Coronel Lurangeli Franco, a policewoman from Colombia, delivered her experiences in transforming the national police institutions in the face of extremely violent armed groups. She suggested several steps – breaking the ice, understanding differences, understanding situations and empowering communities. Throughout her stories, she emphasized the secret of trust – which relies on our willingness to build genuine relationships that translate into actions.

Coronel Lurangeli Franco

Coronel Lurangeli Franco is a member of the National Police of Colombia and works in the Unit for Peacebuilding (UNIPEP Spanish acronym), where she is responsible for the implementation of the peace accords. This unit is developing the approach to gender mainstreaming and peacebuilding within the National Police. The purpose is to build trust among the different parties involved in the territories and to develop a gender approach in the police service. Through innovation processes, she has prompted the implementation of the Peace Building Model of the National Police.
