Ahmed Abdullahi is leading Somali-Canadian peacebuilder. In his Peace Talk, he shares how he discovered his calling as peacebuilding by witnessing his grandfather mediate a traditional peacebuilding meeting under and acacia tree in Somalia. Ahmed discusses his role working for Interpeace and the “bridge builder” role he plays in ensuring international activities are relevant and grounded in local needs and practices. Finally, he calls for Somalia and Somalis to work together at all levels to bring Peace and overcome the negative associations attached to their beloved country.

Ahmed Abdullahi

Ahmed Abdullahi is a Somali-Canadian born in Mogadishu, Somalia. He has been working in the Somali context since 2011 in the humanitarian, stabilization, and peacebuilding fields. Ahmed has obtained a Master Degree in Peace and Conflict Studies from the UK. He is currently the Country coordinator for Interpeace and the chair of the peacebuilding working group with Somalia NGO Consortium.
