Geneva PeaceTalks- Peace is Possible!
GENEVA PEACETALKS 2025
10 September 2025
3:00 – 5:00 PM CEST
Room XVII, Palais des Nations, Geneva (& livestreamed online)
Each year, the International Day of Peace is observed around the world on 21 September, as a day devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace, through observing 24 hours of non-violence and cease-fire. This year’s overarching theme is Act Now for a Peaceful World.
“What does it take to choose hope over fear? To rebuild trust where it has broken? To believe, again, that peace can take root even in the most fractured places?”
Join us for the 13th edition of the Geneva PeaceTalks, Peace is Possible, on 10th September at Palais des Nations (Room XVII), Geneva, or online between 15:00-17:00 (CEST) as we discover meaning in these questions and to honour the International Day of Peace.
Under the theme “Peace is Possible,” this year’s event brings together an extraordinary group of individuals from around the world, from diplomats, peacebuilders, community leaders, and artists, all united in the belief that peace is possible. By sharing personal lived experiences, they will illuminate that peace is not only necessary, but achievable through increasing understanding, respect, and justice in our daily lives.
The PeaceTalks is a global platform that elevates storytelling as a powerful tool to foster dialogue and cultivate understanding. Since its founding in 2013 by the United Nations Office at Geneva, the Geneva Peacebuilding Platform, and Interpeace, with support from the Swiss Government and Mirabaud Group, the initiative has featured over 200 speakers from 60 nationalities, across more than 20 editions in 8 countries.

Storytelling for Peace
The PeaceTalks is a global initiative that uses storytelling as a tool to build peace and inspire action.
Stories and their telling can create change. The best ones influence our beliefs, inspire us to make an impact, and illuminate what it means to be human. Everyone has a story to tell through which we can learn.
Storytelling is a powerful educational and peacebuilding tool. Through the telling of personal stories, topics usually addressed from a general angle in the news, come to life, taking human form. Through stories we see the individual instead of the abstract mass. This fosters empathy, understanding and dialogue
IF…we expand the space for dialogue about peace beyond technical peacebuilding through storytelling, focusing on personal stories and what is working;
THEN…a greater audience of people will become more aware of their potential individual roles and contributions in building peace, and that their actions can have a meaningful and positive impact in sustaining peace;
BECAUSE…they will feel inspired, empowered, and encouraged to support relevant initiatives where they work or to take personal action of their own.
