What does peace mean to you?
STOCKHOLM PEACE TALKS 2015
29 January 2015
5:00 – 7:00 PM CET
Sveriges Riksdag, Stockholm
What does peace mean in our own lives and how do we play active roles to promote peace in our communities?
The first-ever Stockholm Peace Talks was held on 29 January 2015 at the Swedish Parliament. Following on from the successful Geneva Peace Talks series and drawing on Stockholm’s tradition as a city of peace, the goal of the Stockholm Peace Talks was to inspire reflection on how each and every one of us has a role to play in promoting peace. Given the current state of the world, with violent conflict dominating the news, it is even more important to raise awareness of peace.
The event featured speakers and entertainers from diverse backgrounds from Sweden and abroad, including the UN, government, business, arts, and civil society sharing their personal stories about peace. Speakers and the audience looked at what peace means within their own lives and have a better sense of what they can do to play a more active role in promoting peace. The theme aimed to highlight that everyone can contribute to peace – be it at home or in a far-away conflict zone.
